Pink Elephant Sketch

This morning I mentioned a site that I had never heard of before called The Pink Elephant. I clicked on over and when I saw the sketch I instantly knew what I wanted to do.  (Thanks to my friend Debbie for letting me know about this site!)

Even though I knew right away how I envisioned the layout, the problem was that I could not find the picture that I wanted for my focal photo. I have over 1000 photos of our trip to Antigua on my computer, but I couldn't find this particular one. John reminded me that it would be around where all the "fish" pictures were. OK, I can't find any of them either! Somehow, on both my hard drive and the External Hard Drive I have for a backup AND a CD I found with the Antigua photos, this group is GONE! I logged into Shutterfly and found them there so I'm not totally crazy....I did have the photos at one time because I uploaded them to Shutterfly! Of course, once you do that, you can't re-download them to your computer with the original quality and I was unable to print a large scale of the photo I wanted. I'm hoping that I have the originals in a folder on my work computer. I'm almost sick to my stomach over this but trying not to let it bother me too much until Monday when I can check at work. One thing I have MAJOR issues with is photo storage and organization. I have CDs, DVDs, External Hard Drives, my home laptop, my work computer and several memory cards and there is no rhyme or reason to any of it! One of these days I really need to get a grip!! While I was looking for this particular photo, I did find several sets of photos that I had forgotten all about though....so that was neat! Anyway, to the point....I liked the sketch and decided (after wasting an hour looking) to use this photo of John on a Hobie Cat at our resort as the focal piece. Along the bottom I included random shots from around the resort. I changed the sketch just a bit, increasing the size of the focal photo to a 7x7 print, and adding an extra smaller photo at the bottom. Once I had the photo debacle sorted out, this layout came together in about 15 minutes! I used mostly scraps and one full sheet of paper from Bella Blvd. All Inclusive line, 3 square metal brads and some chalk ink and Core'dinations Cardstock and this puppy is in the book!! Here is the sketch and my take on it...PS - the original layout is straight....I am to cranky to fiddle with the cropping too much and it looks like I glued it all down crooked!:

Good Morning World!

Its going to be a hot one here in South Jersey.  John is already on the beach FISHING with a couple of his buddies.  I've got a couple hours before my day has to begin (softball/baseball games) and was going to head out to check out some of the sales at the City Wide Garage Sale today but it seems as though I have pulled every muscle in my tummy from coughing so much!  So instead I got myself in a comfortable position, and decided to blog surf instead.  Its much cooler in here anyway!!  Maybe even get a page or two done.

I did find this one blog giving away a great Cricut cartridge prize on June 20.  Go to Heartstrings and check out the different ways you can win!  She was looking for 100 followers and has already met the challenge!!  I wll put the link in my sidebar too if you want to come back later and check it out.  This is what she is giving away:

Anyway, if I don't get to post again (because I have nothing to show) I wish you all a wonderful weekend.  But I MAY be back.  I learned of a new sketch site today from Debbie and am going to check that out as soon as I post this....something Elephant!!  Stay tuned!!

Page Maps Challenge at Let's Scrap

Since it appears that I am in the creative mode today (not a good thing for the state of my house and the laundry that I'm pretending isn't there) I decided to have a go at the June Challenge over at Let's Scrap. Becky at PageMaps provided Cheri with an exclusive sketch for this challenge and the prize is a $20 Gift Card to A Cherry On Top which is my FAVORITE scrappy store and the home of my online gallery so I was REALLY glad to see that they are sponsoring Let's Scrap! Here's the sketch -

and here is my take on it:

More photos from Antigua. I tried to get a good photo of this but it keeps getting washed out. Its much prettier in real life! The papers are by Quick Quotes - By the Bay line. The charms I found on clearance in Michaels last summer for 19c, letter stickers are Basic Grey and the ribbon is from my stash. I seem to have lost my circle cutter (read - I didn't put it back where it belongs and now I can't find it), so all the circles were cut on the Cricut with a WHOLE LOT of trial and error on scrap paper first.

This should be it from me for a little bit. John just called and asked if we could have a "Date Night" tonight!! Dinner and a Movie...I think we will be seeing Iron Man 2. So I need to get myself presentable again. With this lousy cold, its been all I can do to just shower...never mind do my hair and put on makeup!!

EDIT:  We will not be having date night tonight afterall.  I think I've pulled every muscle in my upper abdomen from coughing and am afraid of having a coughing fit in the quiet theatre!!  Maybe tomorrow night!

Challenges, Challenges!

I'm on a roll today!! Just finished this one which is based on the PageMaps sketch at Stuck On You Sketches this week. I had fun with this page because I got to use my new Distrezz-It-All tool! I've had it for a few weeks now but just haven't done any pages that I could use it on! I know Easter doesn't scream DISTRESS ME but I think it worked! I used Making Memories Flutter papers and We R Memory Keepers stitched cardstock (LOVE this stuff!), the flowers are by Irene's Garden that I got on clearance for cheap-cheap at JoAnn.com and the butterflies came from the May Deal of the Month over at Creative Charms. The letters are Jillibean Soup "Pertie Pink" Alphabeans, journaling paper is Theresa Collins and the leaves were cut on my cricut from a tracing I made from a very old Sizzix die...one of the first ones I got over 12 years ago!! Buttons and floss from my stash.

I'm getting some mileage out of this layout!!  In addition to the above, the buttons qualify this layout for the weekly challenge over at Frosted Designs.  The challenge is to use buttons on your project.  That's a super easy one for me as I use buttons all the time!! The flowers qualify this layout for the weekly challenge over at the Alphabet Challenge blog.  The challenge is:  F is for FLOWERS!

Boy do I love having my Fridays off in the "summer". With the kids in school still, I don't have to worry about anything but doing what I want to do!! Only 2 more of these Fridays left....then they will be home for the summer too!

Bo Bunny Friday Sketch Challenge & Frosted Designs

I don't know how I didn't know about the challenges on the Bo Bunny blog considering they are one of my favorite paper lines and I visit the blog often. But yesterday at work I was clicking around the blog and found this sketch challenge posted on May 21. There's still a little time to get your layout in if you would like to play along too! The sketch is by Rita Shimniok. I used the BoBunny Paradise line to create my layout. Its another set of pages for my Antigua vacation album...WOO HOO!! This layout is photos from Fort Berkely. Everything on this layout is BoBunny with the exception of the twine in the buttons and the kraft cardstock which is Bazill!!

The buttons qualify this layout for the weekly challenge over at Frosted Designs.  The challenge is to use buttons on your project.  There's a total of 8 buttons on these two pages!!

New Challenge Blog!

Have you heard about the newest challenge blog on the block? Its called Sketches In Thyme. I found out about it because one of my blog buddies, Debbie, is one of their Design Mavens! Don't you love that....MAVENS! I instantly liked the sketch which came from http://scrapiopath.blogspot.com/ for the first challenge and couldn't wait to get home from all the sports activities last night to get started. Alas, this miserable cold (yep, still sick after 9 days and two doctor visits) got the best of me and I didn't get very far with it last night so I completed it this morning. The photos are of my son, Matthew. He's the most loving, caring 13 year old boy you'd ever want to meet, yet he's got that little hint of devil in him as most 13 year old boys do!! Some girl is going to be very lucky some day. He "says" he's never leaving me....oh if only that were true! LOL! The papers are Jillibean Soup and I cut it into the bracket shape on my Cricut and SCAL using the 09 Cut Ups Font.  I LOVE this Frog paper!! The frog prince is a cut on my Cricut from SVG Cuts and I added a crown from the Alphalicious Cricut Cartridge. The title is cut on my Cricut using Opposites Attract and Alphalicious. All of that Cricut use qualifies the layout for ScrapFit Workout #21 - Exercise Machines. The ribbon is by Creative Charms and the buttons and twine are from my stash  which qualify this layout for the weekly challenge to use buttons over at Frosted Designs. Stay tuned for another posting....I've been busy this morning!!

June PageMaps Challenge at Let's Scrap!

I haven't had any time for scrappiness since I started feeling better.  Too bogged down with work, then there's all the kids activities at night.  I finally had some time planned out tonight and wouldn't you know I was at work until 6pm and then after we had some yummy Chinese for dinner, I ran out of Ooomph!!  I'm now two layouts behind in the Bakers Dozen class I signed up for at Big Picture Scrapbooking.    Fortunately tomorrow is my Friday and although Matt does have a game, its at home so we shouldn't be too late.

I do want to give everyone the head's up about a great month long sketch challenge over at Let's Scrap.  Cheri and the rest of the Let's Scrap girls teamed up with Becky Fleck of PageMaps fame to bring you this great sketch!!

You have the entire month of June to work on this and upload it to the gallery at Let's Scrap to be in the running for a sweet prize!!  And if that isn't enough, here is the weekly sketch at Let's Scrap.
Participate this week to be in the running to win a $25 gift card to Memorable Seasons!

And finally tonight, I have to post this picture of John, who after weeks and weeks of "just missed one", "had one but lost it", and a host of other responses when returning home from fishing, FINALLY brought home dinner!

Hope you are all having a scrappier week than I am!!!  I can't wait for Friday to get here so I can play with my paper again!!
