Mug Shots of Mom

This layout came together quickly! The photos were random shots John took (the first two when I wasn't paying attention) when we were in Busch Gardens over the Summer. I haven't done anything with them because I didn't like the photos. But then came Challenge #2 at the ACOT crop. We had to create a layout based on this ad as inspiration:

We had to have a title, 3 photos, and the numbers 1,2 & 3. I think i turned out cute. I used My Minds Eye Breaking Away paper for the background, leftover Sass Lass from the last layout for the photo mat. The shield is also My Minds Eye. Letters are Thickers and Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type. TFL!

Scraplift Challenge and Monsters!!!

I got a great box of goodies in the mail today from Crafty Steals!! My Minds Eye Holiday paper sets! I LOVE My Minds Eye paper! As soon as I got home from the baby shower for my friend, Lisa, I sat down and created two layouts! The first one is my adorable baby girl on the merry-go-round! I just love how happy she looks!! I used the "Be Loved" line and this is a scraplift of a layout done by LilKoala at the A Cherry On Top forum for the Scraplift The Guest Design Team challenge. Here is her layout:

The second one uses a PageMaps sketch from 10/09 and is all three of my kids dressed up for Halloween 2001! I used the MME Boo To You line for this one and it qualifies for the color challenge, also at A Cherry On Top. The main color had to be ORANGE.

And now, for the MONSTERS. Nope, its not the monsters in the above layout! Its the monsters that I live with! The other night I was sitting at my desk when John asked me something from the kitchen. There is window between the two rooms and I rolled back on my chair to answer him when all of a sudden it was lights out! I went backwards on the chair, the chair popped out from under me and scrapping supplies began pouring down on top of me! Instead of rushing to my aid to get me out of the chair...trust me...I could not MOVE....what did they do? John and Matt both ran for the camera. This is the result.
Yes, I was laughing.....I laugh at myself all the time because things like this happen to me ALL THE TIME!! I was on the phone with my mom when this all happened and scared her half to death! LOL!! All she heard was a crashing sound and Matt asking if I was alright, in between his hysterical laughter! Yep. I live with monsters!! Hope this gives you a giggle too!

All That I Am

Phew, what a scorcher of a day. My boss let us out of work 1/2 hour early and I was soooo happy. I knew that I was coming home to some new scrapping goodies from ACOT! When I opened it I remembered I ordered the new Echo Park summer papers!! I LOVE them!! And as luck would have it, just minutes before I was starting this layout, Fia over at Sketches for You posted a color challenge that went PERFECTLY with these papers and the photo I chose of my mom, sister, brother and I circa 1976! All papers and embellies are Echo Park except the red letters which are Basic Grey Junebug. I also used the weekly sketch at Sketch Inspirations because you know I'm not happy if I don't get some mileage out of my layouts! I just couldn't figure out a way to get Mickey Mouse on here for Practical Scrappers! LOL!!

I got some great news today too!! I won the $70 gift certificate to CSN stores from the Sassy Lil Sketches contest!!!! See my original post with the layout HERE. How exciting!!! I can't wait to get it and spend it!!!!!!

OK, its only 8:30!! I think I will go shower and then work on another layout!! Both kids are out and John is snoring on the couch!!

Happy 4th of July Weekend!!!!

My long weekend started when I left the office at 5:15pm today!! I don't have to be back at work until TUESDAY! Yippeee!!! While I was physcially at work today (mentally I was already on the beach) I was on the ACOT Message Board and was checking out the July challenges. One of them was to create a Red, White and Blue layout that was NOT a Fourth of July layout. I immediately thought of these photos from 2008 when we went to Historic Smithville to see the Virginia Company K Encampment and Civil War Reenactment. They were PERFECT for the theme! I decided to use the Sketches In Thyme weekly sketch and because of the distressing on the papers, it also qualifies for Denise's challenge over at Pages In Time. Now I KNOW there was one more challenge I was entering this into but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. I know it was to use red, blue and another neutral other than white which is why I went with the Kraft background. So if you know what challenge I am missing, let me know!!  And to top it off, Frosted Designs posted their new challenge today....Red, White, And Blue, Stars and Stripes!  WooHoo!!  Love when I can combine so many challenges!

I used a mix of papers for this one. Most of it is Pink Paislee Starlight and some We R Memory Keepers Old Glory. Letters are Pink Paislee. Tickets are by House of 3. Bling by Jolees. Chipboard stars by Melody Ross sprayed with Moonlight Glimmer Mist.

Unfortunately my plans to scrap all night are fading. I'm tired!! When I got home from work John suggested going to the movies. We had wanted to see Iron Man 2 but waited to long and its not in the theatres here anymore so we saw Grown Ups instead. GREAT movie! Adam Sandler is a comical genius. We LAUGHED, and LAUGHED!! Really a good, funny movie with a great cast!

I am off tomorrow and John is working so you know what that means!! Scrappy day ahead!!
