Taking the Leap!!

Ever since the Scrapbook Cafe (the only LSS within and hour of me) closed, I have missed being on a Design Team. I don't scrap with any one manufacturer more than another so trying to land a spot on one of the manufacturer DT's didn't seem feasible. So I decided that I would try to submit to be on the Design Team for one of the sketch sites I've been visiting recently. If you like sketches like I do, definately go check out Let's Scrap! I have been slowly trying to get involved in the community of ladies over there and once I get a little more comfortable with the format, etc. you will see some of the layouts I post here also over there.

Here's my submission for their Design Team....and the sketch that it was based on:

Wish me luck!!!!!

Happy Monday!

Wow, the weekend flew by as usual. I got a few layouts done though and have decided to try to submit some of my work for either publication or a spot on a design team. I used to be on the design team for my LSS until they closed and miss that so I figured what the heck. Its not that I think my pages are fantastic, but I think I put my heart into my layouts and that shines through. Here is what I did this weekend. Most of these layouts were for challenges:

At The Shore - Die Cut Challenge at ACOT

Driving Lesson - For the "Countdown Challenge" at ACOT:

Donut Smiles - no challenge here!!

Pals Forever - Scraplift the Creative Team Challenge

Best Gift Ever - Journaling Challenge

Hope you got some scrappy time this weekend!!!

Happy Friday!

The weekend is here....and that means time to scrap!!! I'm still entering some challenges....hoping to win some scrappy goodness one of these days!! Today I got a large order of new stuff from ACOT and sat down and pulled out some new BoBunny Jazmyne to make this layout, based on the latest sketch over at PencilLines.

And since I'm trying to not have soooooo many scraps, I used the same line to create this one:

Another PageMaps/Acot Contest

As I was browsing the PageMaps blog I saw that my favorite online scrapbook store, A Cherry On Top, was partnering with PageMaps (this time on the PageMaps site) with a sketch contest. The prize is a new Cricut.

The rules are pretty simple...Create a layout based on the sketch. Your page can be any size and any orientation, and you are welcome to interpret the sketch any way you'd like.

The theme of your page needs to be APPRECIATION, although the word does not have to be included in your title. It could be about someone you appreciate or something you are thankful for -- how you scrap it is entirely up to you! Your page DOES need to include journaling.

Here is the sketch and below is my take on it. I chose to do a page about my son and I love how it came out. Who say's you can't use pink and flowers on a boy page?

All papers are from Crate Paper as well as the embellishments with the exception of the two Prima flowers.

Wish me luck!!!

And the weekend comes to a close!

I'm rather happy with how much scrapping I got in this weekend. It was a beautiful first weekend of Spring here in South Jersey and I managed to get 7 or 8 layouts completed on top of doing some spring cleaning (washing windows, curtains), getting the kids spring/summer wardrobes started (with a GREAT sale at JC Penney), dinner out in AC last night and then most of Sunday spent visiting my mom and shopping with Susie (although we came home empty handed!). I just wish Mondays didn't come around so fast. I seem to have gotten some scrapping mojo back and am afraid that the work week will kill it once again! But the bills must get paid. :(

Anyway, here's the rest of the layouts I did this weekend:

New Blog!

I really didn't have many (not sure I had any!) followers anyway, but I decided to jump-ship from Typepad to Blogger. So welcome to my new blog!! Mainly what you will see here are my scrapping layouts for challenges, etc. And probably some posts about life, family, kids....that kind of stuff!!

To start this blog off right, below is a layout that I created today based on a sketch at Pencil Lines. I've been using sketches as a jump off point for some time now and quite often they bear no resemblance to the original sketch, but this one is pretty spot on:
I have no clue who makes the paper as its been in my stash for a longgggggg time and there are no mfr. markings on it anywhere.
This next layout I made this morning. Its nothing to write home about but I love it more for the photo than the layout itself. Its an OLD photo....from 1975 of me, my sister and brother:
Papers used were from October Afternoon, My Minds Eye and Cosmo Cricket. I love how all three of these lines worked well together. The flowers I cut on my Cricut using the Wild Card cartridge.

And finally, this layout I did based on a PageMaps sketch for a challenge over at ACOT:
The papers are mostly Bo Bunny with a little DCWV glitter paper at the bottom.
Thanks for looking!!!
